Calcium tartrate tetrahydrate urolith is an emerging urolith whose popularity is growing with the cultural changes in how we fed our pets. Unlike all the other common uroliths, there appears to be a clear nutritional cause. This webinar will explore the history of this stone type, investigate who is at risk, explore the inciting causes, and discuss if dissolution is possible. If so, how and why, from a nutritionist's perspective, eliminating this stone type may be difficult will also be discussed.
Dr. Jody Lulich is the director of the Minnesota Urolith Center and holds the endowed Hills/Osborne Professorship at the University of Minnesota. He specializes in nephrology and urology and has earned an international reputation as a clinical investigator and educator in this field. He has authored more than five hundred publications in scientific journals and books. Dr. Lulich was awarded the Norden-Pfizer-Zoetis Distinguished Teacher Award in 2001 & 2013. In 2020 he received the Award for Outstanding Contributions to Graduate and Professional Education and inducted into the Academy for Excellence in Clinical Practice in 2022. In 2023, he received the ACVIM Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Lulich's memoir of his veterinary career path, In the Company of Grace; A Veterinarian’s Memoir of Trauma and Healing, was published in 2023.
